ECI issued notification for assembly polls, first day 2 nominations filed

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday issued the notification for the 13-Tripura legislative assembly elections, which would be held on February 16 for 60 assembly seats.

Election department sources said that on the first day of the notification, two nominations has been submitted by the candidates of Amra Bangalee, one at 7-Ramnagar assembly constituency by Dulal Ghosh and another one at 8-Town Bardowali assembly constituency by candidate Ramkrishna Debnath.

Apart from two nominations, the political parties have collected their nomination papers from different Returning Officer (RO) offices across the state and parties may start the filling of nomination papers from Tuesday as Sunday and Monday, all government offices will remain closed for holidays.

According to the notification, the last date of filing of nomination papers is January 30 and the scrutiny of papers and relevant documents would be done on the next day. The last date of withdrawal of the candidatures is February 2. The voting of all 60 seats would be held on February 16 and counting of all polled votes would be held on March 2nd next.

It may be recalled here that this time ECI has appointed 60 Returning Officers (RO) for all 60 assembly constituencies and 180 Assistant Returning Officers (AROs).

However, the main political parties including ruling BJP , opposition CPI(M) or Left Front, Congress , Tipra-Motha and Trinamool Congress (TMC) have yet to announce the names of candidates and many parties have also not completed the selection process for their candidate names.
