Elderly couple commits suicide by hanging in Lefunga
In heartrending incident, a lonely old-aged couple, who were deserted by their two sons committed suicide by hanging themselves after allegedly after a family dispute among themselves at Kalicharan village of Berimura area of Lefunga police station under West Tripura district on Saturday.
Police sources said that the deceased couple identified as Babul Bairagi (60) and his wife Sandhya Bairagi (55), who was suffering from some age related illness along with poverty.
Babul Bairagi was working as day labourer and hardly maintaining his family along with the treatment of wife, suffering from multiple ailments and had often engaged in severe quarreling with his wife. They had two sons, but both of them inhumanly left their parents, who were leading a life of extreme poverty.
On Saturday morning, some of their neighbors noticed the door of their house was not open after a considerable amount of morning time. Suspecting something foul, the local people rushed to the house of Babul Bairagi and opened the door. Then, they noticed both of the elderly couples were hanging from their ceiling. Later, police rushed to the spot and sent both bodies to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
Police sources added that they registered an unnatural death (UD) case and started investigation to find out the possible reason for twin suicide.
