Pratapgarh MLA Ramu Das’s house attacked, old mother hospitalized
In continuation of large-scale post poll violence across the state, which are unabated and miscreants have also unleashed large numbers of attacks in different parts of the state on the day of oath taking ceremony of the new government.
Reports, soon after oath taking ceremony miscreants owing allegiance with ruling party has attacked the house of Ramu Das, CPI(M) MLA of Pratapgarh assembly constituency and after ransacking his house at Kabiraj Tilla under AD Nagar police station has also attacked his 70 years old mother, who was hospitalized and admitted to IGM Hospital.
MLA Ramu Das said that on Wednesday afternoon he went to a doctor's chamber with his wife in the city, where he was informed about the attack on his house and immediately rushed to his house.
He said a large group of miscreants raided his house and ransacked the boundary walls of the house and they had also entered inside the house and ransacked house properties.
Miscreants had started abusing him and his mother with racial slurs and at a time, they had also physically assaulted his 70 years old mother. Later, police and some neighbours rushed to the spot and shifted his mother to IGM Hospital.
Das alleged that miscreants had openly given life intimidations to him and claimed that they want by-poll in the constituency.
While, CPI(M) strongly condemned the incident and urged the new government to ensure proper security for their MLA and should take concrete steps to restore peace and tranquility in the state.
Sources said that in the evening, miscreants had also intensified their attacks and arsoning in different areas of Pratapgarh constituency and set fire in two houses and a decorator shop at Aralia area.
Miscreants had also attacked six more houses in Pratapgarh constituency on Wednesday and ransacked valuable house properties.
Expressing concern over the recent cases of post-poll attacks in Tripura, the CPI(M) and Congress again on Wednesday urged the state government to convene an all-party meeting to discuss the matter and find ways to end the violence.
