SCERT, Tripura has successfully concluded the final phase of Structured Classroom Resources (SCR) development for Grades 6, 8, and 10 with technical support from The Transform Trust.
A three-day SCR finalization workshop was held from April 23rd to 25th at SCERT Agartala, marking a significant milestone in the state’s ongoing education reform efforts under TRESP- TPD project.
The workshop, spearheaded by SCERT Director Smt. L. Darlong and facilitated by SCERT officials, brought together a diverse group of 16 State Resource Group (SRG) members from SCERT, esteemed educational institutions, and the government school system, alongside 16 subject experts from The Transform Trust. This collaborative team reviewed, refined, and finalized approximately 1,700 structured lesson plans across four pivotal subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science. These lesson plans, developed to enhance teacher professional development initiatives of the Transform Trust for middle and secondary schools in the state, are designed to act as practical resources for government school teachers. By aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020,they aim to enrich classroom teaching practices and foster an improved educational experience of students studying at middle and secondary levels.
Deputy Director of SCERT Tripura, Mrs. Ambalika Datta, officially inaugurated the workshop and expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “We are delighted to have a dedicated SRG group collaborating with us on this innovative initiative. This workshop is built upon the pillars of collective expertise, rich experience, and unwavering commitment to improving the quality of classroom teaching.”
This SCR initiative is part of the Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project, supportedbytheDirectorateofSecondaryEducation.Itsdevelopmentinvolvedextensivecollaboration among government teachers, District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs), SCERT, and the Institute of Advanced Studies in Education (IASE). Each SRG member brought their subject-specific expertise to guarantee the quality, inclusiveness, and classroom applicability of the resources.
Notably, out of the 1,700 lesson plans, around 550 are dedicated to Social Science as Dr. Mostafa Kamal, PGT Political Science teacher, emphasized the significance of the resources, stating, “These lesson plans will empower teachers to implement effective classroom practices and better support students’ learning.”
Mukta Narain Thind, Managing Director of The Transform Trust, highlights that “the SCRs are meticulously designed to provide step-by-step instructional support to teachers, ensuring active students engagement while seamlessly aligning with the curriculum objectives of the respective grades. Furthermore, these resources aim to simplify lesson planning for teachers, enhancing both the efficiency of preparation and the quality of classroom instruction.”
With the framework now finalized, the upcoming tasks include translation, further vetting, and printing for state-wide dissemination. The Transform Trust remains committed to providing technical and pedagogical expertise to ensure smooth implementation across schools. This initiative highlights Tripura’s commitment to strengthening the education system and creating a more structured, outcome- focused learning environment for more than 3 lakh students across the state.
