Three bike lifters arrested, two stolen motorcycles recovered
Agartala city police Thursday arrested three motorbike lifters and recovered two stolen bikes under their possessions.
Giving details officer-in-charge (OC) of East Agartala police station Sanjit Sen said that on March 26th last, the motorcycle of one teacher, Sourajit Das of Khowai, was stolen away from MG Bazar area, when he was busy with shopping.
Soon after receiving the complaint, police started investigation and based on the CCTV footage, recovered local areas of MG Bazar, police managed to identify one bike lifter, who had stolen the bike, said Sen .
He said that later police arrested one Tutan Das from Camper Bazar area of AD Nagar, who was identified in the CCTV footage and has also recovered the stolen bike under his possession.
Sen said that during interrogation, arrested bike lifter Tutan Das has revealed the names of his two associates and police have managed to arrest two more bike lifters identified as Biswajit Saha and Rubal Hussan and have also recovered another bike under their possession.
The OC added that Tutan and his two associates engaged in many bike lifting incidents and they often parked their stolen bikes at Agartala railway station before smuggling these to Bangladesh.
All the trio were on Thursday produced before a local court with police remand appeals for further interrogation and get details of the lifting network, said Sen.
