Tripura will be a business hub in NE region, CM
Once the connectivity takes flight through Maitri Setu (bridge ) in Sabroom of South Tripura district, it shall become the gateway of South-East Asia. Tripura will become business hub in future, said Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha at State Level Round Table meeting regarding prospects of industrial investment in the state held at Pragna Bhavan on Tuesday.
The round table conference was organized as a part of the upcoming North-East Global Investor Summit. The Chief Minister in the conference said, development of a country or state requires modern communication system. Development is being brought in various sectors including the communication system in Tripura. 7 National Highways are being constructed in the state as a result of Prime Minister’s keen interest towards development of Tripura. The Chief Minister also mentioned that Tripura is presently in pretty good position in terms of internet services. He said, about 12 Express Trains have been started in the state for improving railway connectivity, which are now connecting different areas of the country with the state.
Besides, Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport is now known as unique and busiest airport in Northeastern region. The Chief Minister called upon all investors to come forward in building industries in Tripura making the best use of all infrastructural facilities and assured of providing all kinds of assistance from the state government. He said, the state’s future is quite bright in regards to infrastructural development. The state’s Industry and Commerce department has launched “SWAAGAT” portal for the convenience of investors in the state. The state is blessed with ample amount of natural resources such as rubber, bamboo, tea, horticultural crops and Agar trees. Based on these natural resources, various industries could be established. In this regard, the Chief Minister mentioned that after Kerala, Tripura is the second highest producer of rubber. He also mentioned that there is huge scope for investment in the state in different fields such as tourism, education and health. Industry and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma said, Tripura at least on investment point of view will become extremely popular destination. Huge scope for investment in agriculture, horticulture, bamboo, rubber, food processing, health and tourism has been created in Tripura. To attract investors to the state, PM Gati Shakti, G-20 and investment summits have recently been organized in the state.
The Chief Secretary J K Sinha in the conference said, while other countries were suffering from the effects of the pandemic, India’s economic condition was pretty much stable. Tripura’s growth rate has also been mentionable in the Northeastern region. Tripura’s development has been observed in surveys conducted by different organizations of the country. He also mentioned about improvement of communication system in the state.
DoNER Secretary Lokranjan said, the Northeastern region is playing a significant role in overall development of the country. Infrastructure and connectivity of the North eastern states have improved greatly. He also spoke about the importance of stable development in the conference. Welcome speech was delivered by Special Secretary of Industry & Commerce department Abhishek Chandra. Vote of Thanks was delivered by Director of the department Vishwasree B.
MoU was signed between the Government of Tripura and private industrial organizations for setting up industry in medical, rubber, plywood, agartbatti etc. The Secretary and the Director of the concerned departments discussed about the possibility of setting up of industry in the state in Forest, Tourism, Information & Cultural Affairs, Agriculture and Horticulture etc. Industrialists and investors from the state, outside the state and neighboring country Bangladesh took part in the conference. TIDC Chairman Nabadal Banik and Chairman of Rubber Board Sabar Dhanania were also present there.
