Two drug smugglers arrested with huge quantities of Heroin
In another successful anti-drug operation, the Khowai district police on Wednesday arrested two drug smugglers and recovered large quantities of Heroin under their possessions.
Police said that the Khowai police station had specific information that smugglers will deliver their consignment of drugs to Khowai town and will transport the consignment through an auto-rickshaw.
Based on the information, a police team led by OC of Khowai police station laid a trap at Belfung Naka point and detained the suspected auto-rickshaw. In the course of search operation, police recovered one big packet, two packets of empty vials with 1000 vials and two mobile phones under the possessions of two drug smugglers identified as Prasenjit Debroy and Raju Deb, both are residents of Sidhai Mohanpur area under West Tripura district.
Police added that both drug smugglers were arrested and lodged a specific case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 and started investigation to find out the route of drug transportation.
