Workshop on analysis of child marriage situations in Tripura held at NLU

A dissemination workshop of “Situation Analysis and State Plan of Action for Ending Child Marriages in Tripura” was held on Saturday (April 26th) at National Law University (NLU), Tripura to present the Situation Analysis of Child Marriages in Tripura, hosted by the Centre for Women and Child Rights, National Law University, Tripura.
The event witnessed insightful deliberations from distinguished dignitaries on strategies to combat child marriages and ensure a safer future for children in the state.
Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Pratap Singh, Vice Chancellor of NLU Tripura, inaugurated the session with a warm welcome address, setting the tone for the day’s discussion. A comprehensive report was jointly released by the dignitaries and presented by Dr. Debasree Debnath, Assistant Professor of Law and Ms. Suchitra Tripura, Ph.D. Scholar, highlighting key findings and recommendations to tackle child marriage through legal, social, and educational reforms.
In august presence of Subrata Kumar Das, Additional District Magistrate and Collector, Special guests Smt. Jayanti Debbarma, Chairman-TCPCR, and Dr. Madhulika Jonathan, Chief of UNICEF Office for Assam and NE States, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration and community outreach in eliminating the practice.
The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Nachiketa Mittal, Registrar of NLU Tripura, who acknowledged the efforts of all stakeholders and reiterated the University’s commitment to child rights and legal advocacy.
