Tipra-Motha MLA Animesh to be leader of opposition

Former deputy CEM of ADC and newly elected MLA Animesh Debbarma has been elected as leader of the Tipra-Motha legislative party and expected to be the leader of the opposition in the state assembly.
The first session of the Tripura assembly will start on March 24 and Debbarma was elected the leader in a meeting of all the newly elected MLAs of Motha.
Few days ago, Animesh Debbarma resigned as deputy CEM of ADC as he was elected as MLA of the state assembly from Asharambari assembly constituency . He had also served as an MLA for one term and the party elected him as leader of the opposition considering his experience. The party has already informed the Protem Speaker about his election and requested him to give him formal recognition.
The letter also informed that the party has elected Philip Reang, MLA from Kanchanpur as Deputy Leader of the opposition, Biswajit Koloi MLA from Takarjala as Chief Whip and Pathan Lal Jamatia, MLA from Ampinagar as Deputy Chief Whip of the opposition party.
Motha also proposed the name of Brishaketu Debbarma, MLA from Simna to be the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). The name for PAC chairman is supposed to be deposited only when the speaker will invite nomination from the MLAs but here the Motha has made it in advance.
